Mr. Ranjan Lohar
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Lohar, is a Mechanical Engineering Graduate from National Institute of Technology, India. He started his career in 1988 with Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd and executed several power projects in various capacities. After 10 years career in Public Sector Undertaking in the power sector, he moved to the private sector where he held various management and senior management positions in projects, generation and distribution business, between 1998 to 2007. Before joining BPC, he was with Reliance Energy, one of the largest power companies in India involved in generation, distribution and renewal energy and the last position held was Vice President-Operations.
Mr Lohar’s leadership, technology insight and operational expertise have strengthened BPC’s culture of prudent management and expanded the company into new markets. Currently, he is serving second term in BPC consecutively since 2006.
Mr. Pratik Man Singh Pradhan
Vice president - Business Development and Projects
Mr. Pradhan leads the Business Development Function for BPC. Mr. Pradhan’s as a project development expert has a substantial skills in the field of technical aspects of hydro power development with over 15 years of involvement. Prior to joining BPC, Mr. Pradhan was supporting research related to Steam Restoration at the Environment and Water Resource Engineering (EWRE) Program as a Research Associate at the University of Michigan, USA.
His key experiences include working on environmental hydraulic issues at existing hydropower projects with AECOM Environment, USA; leading the first hydraulic research centre ‘Hydro Lab’ in Nepal to solve the hydraulic problems related to steep sediment loaded rivers; and constructing dams and tunnels for hydropower projects in Nepal through Himal Hydro and General Construction Limited.
Mr. Pradhan holds Masters’ Degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering from University of Michigan, USA and Hydropower Planning and Development from Norwegian Institute of Technology, Norway
Mr. Radheshyam Shrestha
Vice President - Finance
As Vice President - Finance, Mr. Shrestha is responsible for BPCs financial operations, and investor and stakeholder relations. Mr. Shrestha has served 30 years in different positions in Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) the Central Bank of Nepal. He had held the position of Directors of Financial Management Department and Bank and FI Regulation Department at NRB. Prior to BPC he had worked as professional Chartered Accountant in CSC & Company and R. Bajrachayra & Co. in Kathmandu.
A certified Chartered Accountant (CA) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Mr. Shrestha also holds a Master’s Degree in Commerce from Tribuvan University.
Mr. Prakash Kumar Shrestha
Head of Operations
Mr. Shrestha is the Head of Operation Function at BPC. Mr. Shrestha is with BPC for the past 17 years in different senior positions. He has wide range of both technical and managerial experience in hydropower sector. His major responsibilities include overall operation and management of two major power plants of BPC at Pyuthan and Syangja Districts.
Mr. Shrestha’s leadership, technological insight in the domain of his expertise have strengthened BPC’s generation capacity with record breaking trend every year. He was a team leader of Nyadi Hydropower project providing his technical expertise in planning and designing phase prior to formulation of Nyadi Hydropower Limited, a subsidiary company of BPC. He has also worked as a CEO of BPC Services Limited, another subsidiary company of BPC.
Mr. Shrestha holds a degree of Bachelor in Technology (Electrical and Electronics) from India, Masters in Science (Electrical Power System) from Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and an MBA from Kathmandu University.
Mr. Ratna S. Shakya
Head of Corporate
Mr. Ratna Shakya leads the Corporate Management Function and is responsible for development of company’s Human Resources and management of Information Technology, Procurement, Assets and Inventory and Corporate Affairs among others.
Mr. Shakya brings about 30 years of experiences in the field of corporate finance, organization development and management. Mr. Shakya is with BPC since 1994. During his tenure as Chief Finance Manager in Finance Function, Mr. Shakya was successful in achieving National Best Presented Accounts Award from ICAN in manufacturing sector for six consecutive years 2005-2010 for excellence in financial governance and transparency in financial reporting. This had been recognized from South Asian Federation of Accountants by awarding certificate of Merit for two consecutive years for Best Presented Accounts and Corporate Governance Disclosures Awards in 2009 and 2010. Prior to joining BPC, Mr. Shakya worked in Nepal United Company Limited, a Public Limited Company, as Chief Accountant. He has also served as an Internal Auditor in Architectural Design Associates in the past years. At present, he is serving as alternate director for Hydro-consult (P) Limited and Keton Hydropower Limited.
Mr. Shakya holds Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Tribhuwan University. He has also completed skill level in Association of Chartered Certified Accountancy (ACCA) course to further strengthen this professional career.
